Heidi M. Bauer is a graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in English and a writing minor, as well as her Master’s of Art in Teaching. She holds a graduate certificate in College Counseling from UC San Diego also. Her honorable mention essay How Has Iris Chang’s Book The Rape of Nanking: the Forgotten Holocaust of WWII Affected My Life and Thinking” was published in the book Iris Chang and the Forgotten Holocaust: Best Essays from Iris Chang Memorial Essay Contest 2006. New York, NY: Cozy House Publisher, 2007 and her poem “Able” was published in the book Beginnings XI, Ohio Literacy Resource Center, May 2008. She was the 2008 recipient of the Margaret Swanson Davis Leadership Award as well as numerous scholarships. She graduated summa cum laude with highest university honors completing her Honors Senior Thesis: “An Engraved Invitation to Rape”: Sexual Psychology in Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, directed by Dr. Kathe Davis, Associate Professor of English at Kent State University. Ms. Bauer writes poetry, creative non-fiction, scholarly work, and social/political commentary. She is the Business Unit Manager of College Counseling for Frontier Tutoring. She resides in Anchorage, Alaska with her thirteen year old son, Keagen.
